So I was looking for a good tune-age tuesday for yesterday, but ended up finding one today! So we are going with the better late than not at all principle this time.
Tuck, whom I often joke about being my music soul mate, which is different than being my soul mate. Follow me here, we met on a band's website, my favorite band to be exact, The New Amsterdams which also happened to be his favorite band, and from there I suppose the rest is history. We spent the first year going to about as many concerts as we could afford. I honestly have never counted all the ticket stubs, but it's somewhere around 25? Maybe? Which doesn't sound like a lot but it really is, that's 2 concerts a month! Whew! Actually a few of the bands we saw were nobodys and then suddenly they were somebodys. Bands like OkGo, The Spill Canvas, Plain White T's to name a few. When it comes to music, we are just sort of on the same page. Nothing romantic, just understanding. Speaking of romantic he actually is responsible for the Mister and I. So onto the music!!
So today, Tuck sends me a new band! Who also happens to be local, which is a double bonus, and one of the reason I liked New Ams so much.
Hidden Pictures, the story begins at the Record Bar where after one failed band comes another. Richard Gintowt and Michelle Sanders formed Hidden Pictures with 4, then 6, then 5 I think band members, and now really it's just the two of them with tons of great local band guests on their new album which comes out FRIDAY! double sweet. Their sound is, to me, Wilco meets Edward Sharpe, with a dash of Decemberists and Weepies. Which means in my music sort of language...(I know it's a stretch) So it's folk fun with great easy free lyrics(Wilco), great drums(Decemberists) and this crystal clear female harmony (Edward Sharpe, Weepies) that is so fun. So now that you think either I'm crazy, or you really want to hear it. You can sample everything here, which is super cool.
I bought this EP and it's a great intro into their sound I think. I'm pumped about the new album! I think Anne Apparently is my fav.

Last Fav Friday for March!
Hello Friday and hello Lovlies! Here is your last fav Friday Finds for March. Enjoy.
1. Music - Oh Land. This beautiful dreamy performance artist can do no wrong. With articles that say she killed at SXSW it's clear Oh Land has arrived. I love the new album. I've used her songs in mix tapes and I was excited when the new album came out. It's so great, and I encourage you to check out her, what she calls, "multi-sensory" approach, and if you read a bit of her bio you'll realize that her influences span damn near all facets of art.
images from here and here
2. DiY - So, when saw this, I honestly squealed I was so excited. I find this so imaginative and so fun. I would love this lamp in a bathroom, or in a reading corner, ahh so many ideas! I just love it.
You MUST take a look at this ingenious DiY form on of my favorite blogs Design*Sponge.
3. Etsy - I'm in love with this bed spread. And even though if I did make one it would be only for looks, I really really want this quilt. Such and amazing idea, and considering how much a love vintage scarves...you get it. I'm inspired.Gosh those scarves are just gorgeous.
4. Fashion - The Only Rachel Zoe. I adore Rachel Zoe. I think she is just so BANANAS! While some of her vocab can be a bit over used, there is no doubt that she is smart, talented and now a MOM! I, of course watch her show, The Rachel Zoe Project. Wednesday night she was looking amazing on ANTM where the shoot was to model her new faux fur line on QVC with a cute baby jaguar! Adorable. Plus check out her new Signature collection. I'm 'sick' over it.
5. Pintrest - hand candy
I don't know why but I can't stop staring at this ring. I just love it.

Tune-age Tuesday
It's Tune-age Tuesday! I have to confess we have been insanely busy at work the last 2 weeks. So sorry for the sparse posting but c'est la vie! Now on to the good stuff!
I decided to put a little twist on Tune-age Tues. this week and showcase a few bands sites I've found inspiring lately. I've found myself going to band's site quite a bit lately to get info or pre-order music or watch videos. I had forgotten how cool and how much effort some bands put into their site. Often it's really all they have. If they can move past the custom myspace, some heart and soul goes into promoting the album, which is why, typically, assuming the band is doing well (imho of course) the site will change slightly to promote the latest album artwork. I find it really cool. Not many other types of sites go through so many changes as music/band's sites.
Here are some highlights, do you have a fav band site?
Anya Marina - I'm a sucker for large images and subtle color schemes. I love the ink and grey.
Dead Man's Bones - this site is amazing. click the little stitches, there's a ghost. Love the little kids!
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach. This site is like a big puzzle. If you find the tackle box, go fishing. If you figure out how to catch the fist every time, let me know.
Modest Mouse - honestly their sites are some of the coolest out there. Always amazing graphics, always some flash piece here or there, great info, and awesome music. Oh and best album names. Ever for me. Just hilarious.

Fav Friday Finds
1. Music - Perpetual Motion Machine - Modest Mouse
How's that for alliteration. So in my effort to expand my vinyl collection I have found a very soft and deep pocketed spot for colored vinyl. So when I saw the 7in Perpetual Motion Machine limited edition on the Modest Mouse website, I was hooked. It came yesterday, it was in my chair when I got to work. I was pumped. And the vinyl is GORGEOUS, it's an opaque blood red and black marble. ugh, just lovely. P.S. No One's First and You're Next is a great album - and they have a 7in vinyl to go along with it. I'll get a pic of the vinyl.

2. DiY - iPod Dock - Music + Craft + technology + found objects = cool stuff.
I have been seeing homemade iPod docks for quite awhile and I'm seriously about to put the Mister to work. Here's a DiY by ManMadeDiY.com inspired by the $98 version from Anthropologie. I think it's brilliant.
Here are a few others I found fun to share:
3. Etsy - continued iPod Docks
Made out of a Skatebard from this cool shop:
And this one from here
This one might be my favorite
A retro phone - stole my heart. <3
4. Fashion - I have been stalking Polyvore for awhile, not that I can afford anything on the site but once in awhile I get some fashion inspiration. I adore this color combo. The lighter spring blues and gold mixed with creams. yum. I have been craving some nude heels too.
5. Pintrest -Run
The Mister and I have been running like everyday for the last 2 weeks, like 6 days a week. I love it, but I'm just not good at it, I want to do more than I'm ready for. The Mister is already running a mile more than I am and I'm trying not to get down about it, but I'm not used to being the one who's behind. I'm not trying to complain, but running is hard! I found this poster to be so true. The mindset is the hardest part, especially for a new runner like me.
Have a great weekend Lovelies!

Ah-Mazing-Walls
I stumbled onto these crazy gorgeous photos on Emma's Design Blog the other day of this apartment in Stockholm and I can't get this idea out of my head. I'm pretty sure this one is going in my sketch book for later use.
First of all, let me say I adore white kitchens. I love the color white, it feels expensive, clean and chic. Especially when there are unexpected pops of color. When I saw this kitchen I couldn't' stop staring. What a brilliant idea to put the tiles on the accent wall.
I also thought Emma's note about reflection on a hall that doesn't get a lot of natural light was a great point. Now, if only I could convince the mister to do it. hmmm.
But really, I'm just drooling over this idea.
P.S. Those floors, are just sexy

"It's the perfect material for a room that gets a lot of dirt and wear, just wipe off and it's as good as new. It also reflects lots of light around a room that often doesn't get much natural light."

Wish I was doing this today
Beer Pong. I was never particularly good at this game. It was never one that friends played often. I personally am a baseball girl. However, that being said, I think this is the coolest table I've ever seen. Especially for a drinking game. It lights up! I really just wanted to share something super cool, as to avoid bitching about the snow.
Have a great week Lovlies!

Fav Friday Finds
1. Music - I've said before that I think Jack White is a genius. I've talked about lots of collaborations and films, and well, I hope you don't mind, here is another. Last night I was excited to find that my Netflix delivered, White Stripes, Under the Great Northern Lights, which is a documentary about their Canadian tour in '07. It's full of live footage and interviews. They did some really cool things, like random day shows where they would give like 10 minutes notice. Or in small pool halls or rec centers, things of that nature, just show and and play for whomever was there.
Meg I am indifferent about. It's clear to me Jack was the driving force, most of the live footage of the shows are just Meg chillled out in the corner while Jack is putting on the real show. This is not to say the White Stripes would've been better off without her, absolutely not. But an amazing drummer does not an a performer make. But who really gives a crap right?? Right. White Stripes.
2. DiY - A couch - no joke. Would you believe me if I told you this couch was a complete DiY? For reals my friends, Design*Sponge is one of the first blogs I ever started reading and I still adore it and check it almost daily. This Diy blew my mind, this is project commitment. Get the full Diy here.
3. Etsy - Since it's Madi Gras week I got etsy's Fat tuesday email and it was a total score.
This mask:
This swank necklace:
This ridiculous ball gown:
4. Decor - I can honestly say, that these plates are my new obsession. I must have them. They are perfection. Diane Von Furstenberg is my kitchen hero.
5. Pintrest - Let Us Turn up the Beat on Farmers Markets - The Mister and I cannot wait until the Farmers Market in the City opens in full swing. We are there every weekend without fail. I'm so excited for it. I love this poster promoting farmers markets. Such a great idea.
Happy Friday my Lovlies.

Wye Oak Kicks Ass
For some reason I'm feeling particularly salty today. It's a little irritating to see iTunes introducing a really good band that's been good for a long time. I had posted a reply comment to iTunes about needing new music researchers, but thought better of it and deleted it. Yeah yeah itunes user base is probably made up of mostly uneducated music listeners and so really in the grand scheme it's probably great for Wye Oak but ugh.
Anyway I just wanted to point out that LAST year I had Wye Oak, who is an amazing band in 2 mix tapes if you were following along. Anyway, enough about corporate monsters!
I really love their minimal lyrics and her haunting sound, it always sounds far away to me which is something I like. It's great background music when I'm designing and it has a bit of a beat so it's not boring or too soft. This band for me really has something special. I'm looking so forward to their new stuff. Enjoy lovlies.
Follow the band on Twitter
Wye Oak -
AND- I finally figured out how to play music on this damn thing. It's just temporary, hopefully I'll find something better, but until then! Success!
Take it in from my November Mixtape
Civilian from their upcoming Album, Civilian

Rainy Morning Chair
So I'm kind of going nuts over this chair. Who do I know that could do this for me? For less than this price of course. Gorgeous though, just amazing color work. It reminds me of a rainy spring morning. Ugh I can't wait for nice weather tomorrow!

Tune-age Tuesday
Hello Lovlies! So last week I got my new Wounded Rhymes album in the mail and I was stoked. It came all the way form Germany and it took me about 3 minutes to even remember what it was that I would have coming to me from all that way. Anyway, I got home and had the Mister put it on right away. Loved it.
I have to admit I was slightly bummed it only had 10 songs on it. I really wanted more, but nevertheless, it's a great album. The songs are very different but still collective. I would venture to say she is an acquired taste. Her sound isn't something I can describe, which to me is important. While I have featured her many times in play lists I know she could be difficult to swallow. I find her brilliant and unrelenting. Anyway, here is her single from Wounded Rhymes, I Follow Rivers. While I'm not particularly fond of the video concept, I find the imagery very cool, not often you seen a black and white video. I do really like this song. Get the album here

2. DiY - This one is more of a 'I wish I could DiY' I'm obsessed with this cool crochet beads. I love this mustard yellow color and could see these babies on all kinds of things. Headband cluster, hair tie cluster, as buttons, or on a chain for a necklace. The possibilities are endless. Also love the green.. From the Three Blue Bee Shop
3. Etsy - so I'm getting really antsy for Spring to hurry up and get its ass here. I've been seeing super cute spring things all over the place. Here are some of my Favs this week.

5. Pintrest - Keeping with the Spring theme, I stumbled onto this lovely poster for Best Coast. The leaves around the eyes make it look haunting and sweet. not and easy thing to do.
